LEGAL BRIEFS & RESEARCH is dedicated to providing thoroughly researched and superbly written legal briefs on short notice. Our typical clients are solo practitioners and small firms seeking assistance with written projects during busy periods. Lori Broker, Esquire -- the attorney behind LBR -- is a highly experienced litigator and award-winning legal writer, with excellent references and educational pedigree. (See additional info., below.) All work is guaranteed for quality and timeliness.
RATES: Rates are $65/hour. Very short turn-around times may incur additional fees. LBR rates are well below market, enabling you to capture a significant profit when billing out to clients. (Most
state bars allow an attorney to bill a premium for work performed by a legal
contractor, so long as the amount charged is a reasonable fee
for the services provided.)
WHY HIRE LBR? ABA Model Rules require that you insure that your legal contractor is competent and dependable. Be assured, you are in excellent hands with LBR. Lori Broker, Esq., the attorney behind LBR, has 13 years' experience litigating cases in both state and federal courts, at the trial and appellate levels. From 2001 to 2009, she worked for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC"), litigating often novel and complex employment law cases. While there she consistently earned "Outstanding" ratings and received numerous other accolades for her work.
Ms. Broker has garnered special recognition for her excellent legal research and writing skills. In 2008, her supervisor, a long-time Assistant General Counsel for EEOC, wrote that she was "probably the best brief writer [he] had ever supervised." In 2002 and again in 2003, Chief Legal Counsel and Presidential Appointee David Frank officially recognized Ms. Broker for "superb" legal writing, and "excellent writing talent", respectively, after she filed winning summary judgment motions in several high profile cases. Again in 2005, the U.S. Attorneys Office for the Eastern District of Michigan lauded Ms. Broker for research and writing which led to summary judgment in a complicated federal case.

WHY OUTSOURCE?
Relying on an independent contractor to field overflow work during busy periods allows you to weather those periods without having to hire an associate. Obviously there are many administrative hassles and costs to adding an employee to your payroll.
Outsourcing research and writing to someone who excels at this aspect of litigation also insures that you produce high quality work products every time. This translates into happy clients, repeat business, and referrals.
Finally, hiring an independent contractor for discrete projects can actually increase your revenue. Most state bars allow an attorney to bill a premium, e.g. an amount over and above what he pays to the contractor, for work performed by that contractor, so long as the amount charged represents a reasonable fee for the services provided. In addition, delegating work to a legal contractor gives you leverage to accept more work – and generate more revenue – than you could going it alone.
